Bloodhounds are not for everyone

One of the many things we have learned since getting in to bloodhounds is that they are not for everyone. They are strong, stubborn, and independent. Sometimes their dedication is seen as stubbornness, but they are driven to do their job well. They need a strong, consistent, patient handler, but are very trainable!

Their noses do not lie

They are the best scent hounds, which can get them into trouble. They will follow their nose anywhere. It's a tough life being the best scent hound in the world! We've had young puppies that can track our trail at just a few months old. There are countless stories about the amazing noses of bloodhounds.

Slobber

Bloodhounds slobber a ton. You'll have slobber on your pants, shirts, hands, hair, on the wall, on the ceiling, and everywhere else. But their faces are so precious, you can't help but love them!

4

Mental stimulation

Bloodhounds need plenty of mental stimulation or they will become bored and destructive. As young dogs, they're quite active and need to burn their energy off. They will mellow out with time, but are not the lazy "lay-on-the-porch-all-day" dogs from TV. They make great running companions, love to hike trails, and go on walks!

Bloodhounds are head-turners!

People will do a double-take when they see you with your bloodhound. They have a very distinct look and a regal presence about them. People will notice when you go by.
